2012: Daniel Williams – Pluto to Persephone

Poem from the 2012 issue.

Pluto to Persephone
By Daniel Williams

I know what it is
you want from me
but you see
I cannot give it
I am hell
and hell is a nice place
to visit but when you want
to leave you want to leave
When you speak to me
you converse with darkness
hold my hand
old bones rattle
When you kiss me
imagine kissing
the skull of a saint
moldering in a cave
large balloon of spirit flown
imagine a taste of white bone
reposed in darkness
Sweet burst of pomegranate
on your lips
seeds bitter
with promises
The longer you wait for me
the more the world suffers
